Defining Beauty

Penn State students Sarah Burton (left) and Sabrina Bierer pose during a photo shoot for the promotional poster of No Refund Theatre's production of "Sleuth" on January 28, 2009 in the Willard building on Penn State's University Park campus. NRT puts a new spin on a classic play, with Burton and Bierer replacing the original play's male roles and using their beauty as a tool to manipulate the other characters.

The photo would eventually be edited and used as part of NRT's promotional poster for the show:

Snow Moments

On the night of Friday, February 6 into the early morning on Saturday, February 7, a powerful Nor'easter dumped over a foot of snow on State College, PA. While the streets were clogged and some had trouble getting where they needed to go, others on the Penn State campus enjoyed the winter wonderland that the storm created. Here, a large group of people gathered on Old Main lawn during the wee hours of Saturday, February 7, 2010.

Penn State students Munjireen Sifat and Jennifer Chen sled down the snow-covered Old Main steps early Saturday morning, February 6, 2010.

The storm wasn't all fun and games for everyone, however. Penn State graduate student Curran Altschul, center, needed the help of several passersby (including undergraduates Richard Saullo, left, and Brian Yermal) to help dig his stuck car out of a snowdrift and maneuver it into a parking spot in a lot near White Course Apartments on the Penn State campus.

Real-Life Superhero

Corey Latanision, a senior majoring in Bioengineering, poses for a photo. Latanision, who is the president of Penn State's chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society, not only performs valuable medical research (like the artificial limb project at the upper right) as part of his studies at Penn State, he also actively supports the American Red Cross's efforts through organizing blood drives. Last semester, the Penn State BME Society's blood drive during the Penn State-Michigan State blood drive competition pulled in the most units of blood of any Penn State club. Latanision's efforts to help people and develop new medical treatments truly make him a real-life superhero. Photo Dan Antonaccio
